One little acorn.  One round, little acorn breaking up the hard angular lines of a steel man hole cover.  One little acorn, ain’t it cute?

But as I was taking this picture, all around me you could hear this little guy’s brothers and sisters falling from the oak trees and pinging off of cars.  It is not a delicate sound, you can really hear them from many yards away.  They are everywhere and if you are on East Patrick watching and listening to the acorns is grand entertainment.

  1. Awww – I remember that sound from my childhood as acorns fell onto the tin roof of my grandmother’s house – that and rain were the most comforting sounds I can recall.
