Noon today saw the city crews setting up the big Christmas tree at the 7th Street fountain.  The tree came from Woodsboro this year.

At the lower left of the frame, in the grassy area, you can see the pit that holds the tree up.  Once the tree was in the hole the two workers on the ground, accompanied by a third man not shown in this photo, grabbed branches and began to rotate the tree so that the best side faced south down Market and the flat spot would be hidden by the wisteria arbor frame left.  Pretty much what I do every year with our Christmas tree at home, only ours isn’t 30′ tall.

And those forbidding clouds in the background?  Well, it looks like they were the leading edge of the coming storm.
