I absolutely worked up the idea for this photo while sitting in my nice warm office.  Then I drove down to Carroll Creek, found these water plants beneath the creek ice, shot a few frames and got back in the warm car.  It was really cold today and I did not want to spend any more time outside than I had to.  And that hunk of steel and glass I carry around was pretty cold, too.

In my mind’s eye I had pictured the plants spread beneath the ice pretty much the way you see them here.  The bits of green sticking up through the ice were an unanticipated bonus.  I’ll take it…
