When I first drove by this holly bush the leaves and branches were moving so much it looked to be engulfed in a little mini tornado.  When I parked and walked back I found this guy and about four dozen of his closest berry gulping friends enjoying lunch al fresco.

I drove by a few hours later to see if a better shot was to be had (I didn’t realize at the time that I had captured this fellow mid swallow) and saw no birds and no berries.  They had exhausted the lunch buffet and moved on to find dinner.

And even though there is snow on the ground and the temps are back in the mid to  low 20’s, this little man is a hopeful sign that the vernal equinox draws near.

  1. What a stunning shot!

  2. What a catch! Lucky, lucky birds and now they are famous:) Great colors.

  3. Great shot…. that must have been the same flock of robins that invaded our aspargus berries last week in Mt. Airy!! Great shot!
